(Z)-9-Tricosene is an insect pheromone found in dipteran flies such as the housefly and is produced by the female in order to attract males to copulate. It can be used on its own but attraction is greatly increased in combination with food attractants to lure males to targets, traps or insecticidal baits in order to disrupt reproduction.(Z)-9-Tricosene is biosynthesised in house flies from nervonic acid.
